You can't write private messages until you have a certain amount of posts. It's to prevent spam.

Hi Russ
I have a friend of mine Christian, who is on the French cockpit builders' forum Aircockpit.com.
He has started working on the engine gauges for the Otter using AM, so I figured you could share your work.

Tried to PM you about this, but with no avail, my Private messages get stuck in the outbox but never leave it...
So my message here.
What gauges for the Otter have you developed so far?
Are yours available?
I'm in charge of the English translation for him;-)

You can see the progress of Russ's gauges in my latest Twin Otter video, linked below. The only thing you don't see here is the magnetic compass and the 'pitch & turn' panel (that's the yaw damper button and thumbwheels for the autopilot manual mode). I think Russ will be quiet for the next day or two as FlightSimCon 2016 is under way!

I did get your PM and am traveling. We are at FlightSmCon 2016 making ne disciples of Air Manager. Re your request I have replied via PM so let me know if you didn't get it.

Yes Russ I figured late you were evangelizing at FlightsimCon! How are the mice ?
I' m advocating the use of AM on the aircockpit (http://www.aircockpit.com) French forum, full of crazy cockpit builders(lots of A320, at least one 747, two B350 and lots of GA cockpits.
They mainly use OpenCockpit cards to interface their pit, hence use mainly SIOC as programming language and FSUIPC, but some of them go to the Arduino and AM way.
One of them, former electronically engineer, devised specific interface cards to operate real instruments and gauges, either by directly driving the old original motors in 12volts, or by replacing some with steppers...
As for my friend, Christian, he's in the process of building his Otter Sim. I' ll have him introduce himself and let you know what he's doing with AM, as a regular registered user.

Re: Aerosoft Twotter Extended engine instruments
I have been working on engine instrumentation for the Twin Otter (not the extended, but I'm not sure there's much difference).
Specifically, I'm responding on the Torque Pressure question. I was unsure how to deal with this, so I did a bit of research. If you go onto the Pratt and Whitley website for the PT6A series of turboprops, it states that the torque output is measured using a pressure gauge in the reduction gearbox as the pressure is directly proportional to the torque output. To find out this relationship, I ran one of the other torque gauges available from the library and observed the readings on the sim and on the AM instrument.
This is the code that I came up with to position the needle.
angle = torque * 0.09516 + 16.5
img_rotate(img_needle, angle)
I hope this is useful.

Re: Aerosoft Twotter Extended engine instruments
My Twotter instruments to date. They all work correctly (ie they match the Aerosoft sim instruments). I've yet to add fillers for between the instruments and screw-heads to add to the realism.
