Not at my cockpit computer atm, but I believe there's a setting in MSFS so that it mutes itself if the sim window loses focus. You need to switch that.

Chances are what you imported were likely a set of instruments, not panels. Instruments won't show up under Panels. They'll show up as being available under Instruments once you have an active panel that you want to import instruments into.
