Re: Brightness of G1000 bezels
Hi Simpassion, hi Ralph, I needed some courage, to look for new bezels. I found them, I installed them and I fine-tuned them to my needs. Nearly all my wishes fulfilled! All one can think of, is there. Nice! Sorry for failing to give you the possibly most relevant clue: what are you flying with? Wel...

Re: Brightness of G1000 bezels
Hi Ralph, Thanks for your prompt answer. I have installed Air Manager 4.2 and almost everything works as before. Except dimming the bezels and except activating the knobs on my bezels. When I touch a knob on the bezel (e.g., ALT or HDG) I would expect it to turn yellow and ‘listen’ to the knobster. ...

Brightness of G1000 bezels
My dashboard has two 11.2” touch screens, one for the G1000 PFD and one for the G1000 MFD. Since recently, I can set the brightness of the popouts displayed in these screens to a convenient level, as well as the brightness of the panel illumination that I am about to install. Especially during night...

Re: Strange behavior when writing to instrument brightness dataref
Hi Ralph, Keith, SimPassion, … This afternoon, I received my new potmeters and I have immediately installed them. Amazing! Instrument brightness and panel brightness change perfectly smoothly now! No glitches. The voltages over both potmeters is slightly above 2 Volt. By applying the proper correcti...

Re: Strange behavior when writing to instrument brightness dataref
Hi Ralph, Keith, SimPassion, … I have come to the conclusion that one potmeter is entirely defective and the other one has an annoying glitch at its lower end. It is hard to test a system with defective components. It is also pretty pointless to keep other people busy trying to figure out what exact...

Re: Strange behavior when writing to instrument brightness dataref
Hi SimPassion, I suppose the following remark got lost in the multitude: “I have soldered a resistor of 2k7 in series with two parallel pots. That would leave about 3.2 Volt over both pots.” I used the following code to recreate a range of 0.0 to 1.0 to feed into the dataref "sim/cockpit/electr...

Re: Strange behavior when writing to instrument brightness dataref
Hello Ralph, Keith, SimPassion, … First of all: thanks for your combined efforts to get me on the track again. Interesting discussion! I have modified the hysteresis argument. This actually divides the range in small steps: a hysteresis of 0.2 would leave 5 steps. Increasing the hysteresis setting t...

Re: Strange behavior when writing to instrument brightness dataref
Hi Keith Thanks for your code example. I have tried it out and - miraculously - the multiplication by 64.something is no longer necessary. Closer inspection of the dataref I have used, revealed that it is read-only. I found another dataref that seems to work. This is, what I have made of it: -- A5: ...

Strange behavior when writing to instrument brightness dataref
Hi, One of the last knobs on my dashboard that doesn’t work as expected, is the knob to dim the brightness of my G1000 screens. I use an ordinary 10k linear potmeter on my dashboard. I read and apply its value with the following code: function hw_instrument_brightness_knob_change(hw_instrument_brigh...

Re: Transition from X-Plane 11 to XxPlane 12
Hi Joe, I have experienced that this is a very bad idea, indeed. Functions fell out randomly. Something with “lanes” being limited in numbers, according to the experts. After removing the 750TI, performance is slightly worse, but I have all functions back again. The only solution is probably a new m...
